Will the US and Canada manage to strike a revised deal over NAFTA anytime soon? On Friday White House Economic Advisor Kevin Hassett said the US was getting very close to having to move forward on a deal with Mexico but without Canada. It had wanted a deal between all three nations by the end of this month.

Eric Miller, President of the consultancy firm Rideau Potomac Strategy Group, which advises business and government on both sides of the border. He tells us whether Canada, the smaller trading nation, has a lot more to lose than the USA.

There's been a sharp fall for the British pound today after Prime Minister Theresa May said talks with the European Union over Brexit had hit an impasse, following a difficult EU summit in Salzburg. EU leaders rejected her so-called 'Chequers' plan, which she had argued was the only way to maintain smooth movement of goods between Britain and the European Union and avoiding a hard border in Ireland, whilst respecting the result of the referendum.
