The United States and its European allies are expelling dozens of Russian diplomats in a co-ordinated response to the poisoning of a former Russian spy in the UK. We hear from Thomas Wright, a foreign policy specialist at the Brookings Institution. Also in the programme, we visit the eternal Italian city of Rome which is grappling with a long-standing rubbish problem. We’re joined by travel writer at The Times, Ben Clatworthy, to discuss the news that Carnival Corporation, the cruise firm that owns P&O and Cunard, is facing a boycott from LGBT travellers after halting gay weddings on some ships. We speak to Julia Hobsbawn, an entrepreneur and visiting professor at Cass Business School about her book that investigates social connectivity and overload. Plus we hear about how consumers are placing more value on human interaction from Lee Beaumont, a businessman and retail commentator.
