Facebook has announced a comprehensive review to determine whether the personal data of fifty million users has been compromised after reports of misuse by a political consultancy company. Facebook's vice-president said the social network was investigating if the firm Cambridge Analytica had inappropriately obtained user data starting in 2014. This follows demands by members of the US Congress for tougher regulation of the sector.
