Katty Kay

Katty covers US politics for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and is the co-presenter of Beyond 100 Days (#Beyond100Days).

She has lived in Washington since 1996. Before that, Katty was the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Tokyo correspondent and before even that she lived in Zimbabwe where she started her career with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, freelancing for the World Service.

From the US, she has covered presidential elections, financial crashes, wars and sex scandals.

Katty is proud of the fact that after the Brexit vote she wrote a piece titled “Five reasons Brexit could signal Trump winning the White House”.

She is less proud of the fact that on the day he declared his candidacy in June 2015, she said that would be the high point of his campaign.

When Katty is not trying to interpret US politics, she studies the impact of women in business.

Katty is the co-author of two New York Times bestsellers, “Womenomics and The Confidence Code”.

She has another book coming out in April 2018 on confidence for girls.

Katty grew up in the Middle East where her dad was a British diplomat. She went to six schools in five years in three countries, speaking in two different languages.

She says it is remarkable really that she is even vaguely literate.

She has four children, two cats and one husband - this, and the Trump administration, keep her very busy. But not quite busy enough. The family has just got a dog.
