Norman Lebrecht

Norman Lebrecht is Assistant Editor and Wednesday columnist of the (London) Evening Standard.

An internationally-read cultural commentator on Bloomberg.com, he is the author of eleven books on music, including the best-sellers The Maestro Myth (1991) and When the Music Stops (1996).

His books have been translated into 17 languages. The latest is Maestros, Masterpieces and Madness (Penguin Press), a history of classical recording.

In January 2003 he won the Whitbread First Novel Award for The Song of Names. His second novel was published in 2008.
