The government says it won't pay any compensation to women affected by the speeding up of the raising of the state pension age
Pension Secretary Liz Kendall said it would not be fair on taxpayers because the "vast majority of women knew the state pension age was increasing". This is despite the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman recommending payouts of up to Β£2,950 each.
