MPs vote to legalise assisted dying
MPs will vote on a proposed law that would give termnally ill people in England and Wales the right to choose to end their life.
It’s the first time in almost a decade that MPs have debated and voted on a bill that would legalise assisted dying.
If a majority of MPs vote in favour, the bill moves to the next stage, which would involve further debates and votes next year.
Supporters say the bill includes the strictest set of safeguards in the world, with patients needing the approval of a judge.
But critics say the bill could put the vulnerable at risk and devalue the lives of terminally ill people. The bill has split MPs in Coventry and Warwickshire, as our Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ CWR's political reporter Joshua Nevett explains.
