For Black History Month, Future Figures recognises those members who are giving back to the Black community, and a spotlight on amazing individuals making Black history now.
As Part of Black History Month 1Xtra once again celebrates its Future Figures. Future Figures is a way to recognise those members who are giving back to the Black community, and a time to celebrate the countless acts that are taking place up and down the country today by those who are helping to create the black history of tomorrow.
Tumisha Balogun operates at the dynamic crossroads of music, culture, and marketing. With over seven years of experience, she co-founded Tag Agency UK with Alvin Owusuβ€”a full-service creative agency dedicated to bridging brands with youth culture. Tag Agency's mission is to create worlds and compelling narratives that drive business outcomes while actively investing in culture and communities. Starting as a community group, Tag has achieved remarkable success in empowering young people in East and South London. In three months, they delivered impactful workshops and seminars to more than 2,000 young individuals and partnered with Google and Facebook on our annual development programme.
Over time, Tag's pivot to a creative agency led to working with notable clients such as Spotify UK, CoppaFeel!, and Adidas to design campaigns tailored for Gen-Z audiences. The agency's unique business model ensures that the targeted audience is actively involved, compensated, and credited for their contributions, reinforcing their commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for young people.
Building on this ethos, Tumisha also founded Irin Ajo, a community initiative for young Black creatives that originated in a Lewisham living room during lockdown. Now, it is in its third year, with support from Adidas.
Tumisha's enduring passion for music is evident in her work with artists and labels. She currently manages the internationally acclaimed DJ Joce Wavy.
