But they've changed a lot over the years, placing greater emphasis on female empowerment and confidence.

Kelly Wilson from Burford was named Miss Cotswolds earlier this year --- and will compete for the title of Miss Great Britain.

She's been telling her story --- which began when she experienced severe postnatal depression last year:
