Essex saltmarshes β€˜need protecting’

Conservationists warn in a new report about carbon stored in UK seabed habitats, that action is needed to protect and restore saltmarshes. Since the mid-19th century, their numbers have decreased by 85%.

At the Abbotts Hall nature reserve on the Blackwater Estuary near Colchester, the Essex Wildlife Trust is working to protect and restore these important ecosystems, where many birds, plants and fish are thriving.
