Mason: Ministers set out a more Israel-sceptic posture
The UK is not a particularly significant arms exporter to Israel. But Chris Mason says it felt like quite a moment for the new government to spell out a new approach to Israel.
When David Lammy became foreign secretary in early July, he requested an assessment of whether the evidence suggested Israel’s approach to the war could be in breach of international law.
Ministers have now come to a different conclusion than their predecessors. Our political editor, Chris Mason, reports.
