Kasia Niewiadoma: The pain and emotional rollercoaster of Tour de France Femmes win
Poland's Kasia Niewiadoma won the overall title by just four seconds on a dramatic final stage.
How does it feel winning the Tour de France Femmes? Poland's Kasia Niewiadoma will tell you directly – pain, suffering, excitement and euphoria.
It was the rollercoaster of emotions the 2024 Tour de France Femmes winner experienced as she thought at one moment she had lost the yellow jersey, but Niewiadoma dug in to win the overall title by just four seconds ahead of Demi Vollering.
So much was the Polish rider’s effort she tells Sportshour’s Caroline Barker how she didn’t even recognise her husband as she crossed the line.
Niewiadoma also shares how her natural instincts took over on the final climb and what the reaction has been like back home on Poland. Plus, whether this is a significant moment for women’s cycling going forward.
