In May 1970 at Walsgrave Hospital, Anna and Barbara were born conjoined. Before there separation no other UK born conjoined twins had been successfully separated.
In May 1970, at Walsgrave Hospital, Anna and Barbara were born conjoined. Before their separation at Birmingham Children's Hospital, no other UK-born conjoined twins had been successfully separated.
Doctors did not know if the operation to separate them was going to be successful.
The pair say they were lucky to only be joined by one organ, the liver, which can repair itself.
