Down to earth advice on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley.

Down to earth advice on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley.
Despite the cooler weather the runner beans are finally starting to flourish and the onions are growing well. It's time to harvest the broad beans and snip the stems almost to the base to keep the nutrients in the soil. Terry has a tip for making the most of the space you've made with an extra crop of cabbages ready for the autumn.
Under the brassica net, the earlier crop of cabbages, broccoli and cauliflower are growing undisturbed and Terry reports zero sightings of flying insects this year, including ladybirds and cabbage white butterflies.

If you have a question for Terry about your own crops e mail AskTerry@bbc.co.uk and if it helps send a picture too.
