Chris Powell was on the coaching team the last time they played in a final, against Italy in 2021.

He comforted Bukayo Saka immediately after the Arsenal forward saw his crucial penalty saved, allowing Italy to win the tournament.

Powell departed the Three Lions to focus on coaching work at domestic level, but remains close with Gareth Southgate and his squad.
