James Graham: ‘We all know that feeling when England step up to take a penalty’
Playwright James Graham tells Naga Munchetty how the 2018 World Cup inspired him to write his play, ‘Dear England’.
The play is about Gareth Southgate as manager of England over the last three major football tournaments.
“Famously, people would say when English players walk up to the ball to take a penalty, the shirt is heavier for them than any other nation in the world."
“[Southgate] was the one who cracked it.â€
The Â鶹ԼÅÄ is adapting ‘Dear England’ into a four-part television series.
