Putting the sand back on Lincolnshire's beaches
Hundreds of thousands of cubic metres of sand are being pumped back onto beaches along the Lincolnshire coast, as part of the county's flood defences.
The beach replenishment work by the Environment Agency involves sand being dredged from the sea bed and pumped through pipes onto the shore, where it replaces sand washed away by tides, helping to protect sea defences and prevent coastal erosion.
