Christine and the Queens is a singer, songwriter, and producer from France. His debut album was first released in 2014 in French, and in 2015, he released an English version of it. It was critically acclaimed and he won the Victoire de le Musique鈥擣rance鈥檚 equivalent of the Grammy鈥攆or Best Female Artist in 2015. In July 2018, he released the single 鈥淒oesn鈥檛 Matter鈥� in advance of his second album, Chris. Like before, he made a French version and an English version, but this time he wrote both versions simultaneously. In this episode, he talks about what that translation process was like, and the possibilities it opened up, as he takes apart "Doesn鈥檛 Matter." The song and the story first began in Chris鈥檚 basement.
