‘It’s a big party’ – the feeling at Bayer Leverkusen after title success
Former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Carsten Ramelow says the bond between the players and head coach Xabi Alonso has been key to securing their first Bundesliga title.
The German side won their first Bundesliga title with five games to spare thanks to a 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen. Leverkusen's landmark achievement ends an era of dominance for Bayern Munich, who had won the past 11 Bundesliga titles.
Ramelow played more than 400 times for Leverkusen, finishing as Bundesliga runner-up four times, and he tells Sport Today’s Mani Djazmi what it means for the club and also head coach Xabi Alonso.
