English football to have an independent regulator

The UK government will continue plans for an independent football regulator. The Football Governance Bill was introduced in Parliament on Tuesday.

The legislation will grant powers to a body, independent of government and football authorities, to oversee clubs in England's top five men's tiers.

The government announced plans to appoint a regulator in February 2023, following a fan-led review in 2022.

Mike Davis is Shrewsbury Town's supporter liaison officer, but he was also on the panel for the fan led review as well as being part of the Football Supporter's Association (FSA).

He spoke to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Shropshire's Owen Taylor.
