Andrew Tate: Romanian court rules against the influencer

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan can be extradited to the UK, a Romanian court has ruled.

One of the most controversial internet celebrities could face trial in the UK after a Romanian court ruled Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan can be extradited to Britain.

The brothers were detained in Bucharest after British police said they had obtained an arrest warrant. They can be extradited only after the conclusion of their separate trial in Romania on human trafficking charges, a judge ruled.

They have been released from custody in Romania. Speaking outside the court Andrew Tate said: "We are very innocent men and in time everybody is going to see that. We are excited to finish this judicial process and clear our names."

Mr Tate and his brother have already been indicted in Romania along with two Romanian women for human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. They have denied the charges.

Newsday heard how their alleged victims in Britain feel now from Jack Beeston, an associate with McCue Jury & Partners, the legal team acting on behalf of four of Tate's British accusers.

"There is a world in which they serve a prison sentence in Romania and then are immediately arrested and extradited to the UK for potential further criminal sanctions."

"For our clients this is a bitter sweet moment: three of our clients raised criminal complaints to the police in the UK in 2014 and 2015; that prosecution stalled and by the time that the CPS [the English prosecuting authority] had decided to take no further action the Tates had already moved to Romania."
