It took two years of waiting, and an international search, but a British doctor who has saved the lives of thousands of babies has met the man who saved HIS life.
It took two years of waiting, and an international search, but a British doctor who has saved the lives of thousands of the tiniest babies has met the man who saved HIS life.
Dr Nick Embleton, a Consultant at Newcastle’s Special Care Baby Unit, was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer, and was told he would die without a stem cell transplant. There were no matches in the UK, but eventually a worldwide search did locate one.
Dr Embleton was keen to find out who his donor was - so got in touch with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ. And it turned out, Dr Embleton may well have saved his donor's life, too.
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's health correspondent, Sharon Barbour, witnessed their very first meeting, for this episode of 5 Minutes On.
