Everest: Two-year-old reaches base camp
Glasgow toddler thought to be youngest person to visit base of Earth's highest mountain.
A two-year-old boy from Glasgow in Scotland is thought to be the youngest person ever to reach Mount Everest Base Camp some 5,364m above sea level.
Young Carter Dallas completed the trek with his mum and dad – Jade and Ross Dallas – who are on a year-long trip around Asia.
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Newsday caught up with the family, now in Cambodia.
"He's happy to go along with any adventure...he's not one of these kids who likes to stay in the house," said Carter's mum, Jade. "This wasn't to prove anything to anyone."
Carter's dad Ross said for the first few days Jade carried him, and Ross carried the luggage. After two days they paid for a Nepalese porter to carry the bags while Ross carried Carter.
"We'd agreed that if there were any signs of altitude sickness we'd turn back but we were fine and Carter had checks on the way. The hardest thing was entertaining him... we'd sing songs - but he was absolutely fine."
