Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast is playing host to the Africa Cup of Nations football competition with a win for the hosts against Guinea Bissau and a sparkling opening ceremony, shock for Egypt - the most successful team in the competition's history - disappointment for Ghana and an exciting draw for former winner, Nigeria?
It's been four decades since Ivory Coast last hosted the tournament which has grown in size significantly. Newsday's James Copnall asked Algerian freelance journalist, Maher Mezahi, for his first impressions.
"It seems the entire country is united and happy to have this tournament and it seems to be unrolling quite smoothly at the moment."
