How do we stop killer cats?

5 Live listeners share their thoughts with Nicky

A new study has looked at the impact of domestic cats on wildlife globally. It says they are "generalist predators" that will eat anything they can get their claws into. The data compiled by researchers from Auburn University in the US has found they eat more than 2,000 species globally - almost half of which are birds. This follows a study last year which estimated cats kill between 160 and 270 million animals in the UK annually. Naturalists have often expressed concerns about what they are doing to British birds and small mammal populations and 5 Live listeners shared their thoughts with Nicky Campbell.
