'Itβs more than just me' β Sierra Leone sprinter Hafsatu Kamara on the power of inspiring others
Watching Usain Boltβs record-breaking performance at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing ignited Hafsatu Kamaraβs own Olympic dream.
Eight years later, it was a dream the Sierra Leone sprinter would achieve, inspiring others back home through her own achievements at Rio 2016.
Now training towards a place at Paris 2024, alongside her role on the International Olympic Committee (IOC)βs Athlete Commission as Sierra Leoneβs Athlete Chair, Hafsatu lives by the mantra βwhat am I doing it for?β.
She tells Sportshourβs Katie Smith the answer as she explains about the power of representation and why Senegal hosting the 2026 Youth Olympic Games will be a significant moment for Africa.
