Millie Bobby Brown: 'I love the history that older people hold and the stories they tell'

Actor Millie Bobby Brown joined Nuala McGovern in the Woman’s Hour studio for today’s programme…

Whilst you might recognise Millie from her role as Eleven in Stranger Things, or from the Enola Holmes film series, which she produced and starred in, she’s now turned her hand to writing.

Her debut novel, Nineteen Steps, is based on her grandmother’s life in London’s East End during WWII.

She told Nuala all about her Nanny Ruth, why she wanted to put her story down in writing, and she shared why she would have chosen to work in a care home if she hadn’t become an actor.

She wants to encourage readers to speak to their parents and grandparents to find out more about their family history and listen to the stories older generations have to tell.
