Donna and Vanner Johnson - from Utah in America - were overjoyed when they were able to conceive through IVF. Twelve years later, they got a stunning surprise. They'd decided to order some DNA kits for themselves and their two children just for fun. The couple sent off their samples, but when the results came through, something wasn't right. Their youngest son's relatives didn't seem to match the family.
In this episode of our 5 Minutes On podcast, journalist and writer Jenny Kleeman shares the family's extraordinary story - how they broke the news to Tim, who was 11, and how they tracked down his biological father.
This is one of six stories from Jenny's new series for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 4 and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds. It’s called The Gift, and it looks at the extraordinary truths that have been revealed by at-home DNA tests.
