As the UK prepares to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in 2030, our climate editor looks at how difficult it could be to convert petrol cars to electric.

One important area in which the UK is committed to get to net zero, is transport: and a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in 2030. Is the government wavering on that policy? Not according to Michael Gove, the levelling up secretary. He says some plans to tackle climate change create a "backlash" but the 2030 ban is immoveable.
