"The ball is landing in the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's court to communicate local information - Radio 4 and Radio 2 can't cope with local news"

"Surrey Coalition for the Disabled" and "Sight for Surrey" are among more than 140 organisations who've signed a petition, to save Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Local Radio.

It's being handed into the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Director General, Tim Davie today.

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's looking to go digital first; investing more in online services by moving funding from local radio, as they say audience habits are changing.

To do that, they're looking at sharing more programmes across regions. The proposals mean local radio shows from 6am-2pm Monday-Friday while outside of these hours, shows will be regional or national.
