What does it take to declare an outbreak over?
The Covid-19 pandemic has not been declared over just yet by World Health Organisation. Moreover, Africa experiences more than 100 health emergencies every year, more than any other continent; and on July 17, 2022, Ghana declared its first outbreak of the Marburg virus disease. The Marburg outbreak was declared over in mid-September. Four days later, Uganda declared its fifth outbreak of the Sudan Ebola virus. Using the Ghana Marburg Experience, The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Dorcas Wangira explores what it takes to officially declare an outbreak over.
