“You’re quite clued up… for a woman.â€
Female football fans have been describing the sexism they have faced when they’ve attended Derby County matches. It follows a tweet from one male supporter who suggested women and children were ruining the atmosphere at home games.
The man who posted the tweet told us he shouldn’t have said what he said, but didn't intend to upset anyone. He says his opinion on the atmosphere at games hasn’t changed, but has said he doesn't believe it’s solely down to women and children and has acknowledged he was wrong to say that.
Derby County told us: "We welcome every fan to Pride Park Stadium and are proud of the magnificent support the club receives. There is no room for discrimination of any kind and no single, defined way to support the team, unless it breaches the code of unacceptable behaviour."
