'It’s OK for women to desire. It’s normal’

Salma Hayek Pinault is a Mexican-American actress, director and producer who broke barriers in the 1990s as one of the first Latina actresses to establish a successful career in Hollywood, appearing in several Robert Rodriguez films, including From Dusk Till Dawn.

She was Oscar-nominated for her role in Frida, about the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, a film which she also produced.

Now she’s starring opposite Channing Tatum in Magic Mike’s Last Dance, which perhaps surprisingly, is set mostly in a London theatre.

Salma joined Anita Rani in the Woman’s Hour studio to talk about the film, being the strong female lead, female desire and power dynamics in Hollywood.

You can listen to her interview in full on Â鶹ԼÅÄ Sounds - it’s the Woman’s Hour episode from 10 February.
