Ukraine MP gets children home for Christmas

Ukrainian Member of Parliament, Lesia Valysenko's, children have returned home for the first time since March for Christmas.

She posted a picture with her three kids along with the caption: "Got my kids back to #Kyiv today for Christmas. First time since 1 March when I evacuated them. Ecstatic, despite 14C in the home, cold radiators and no power since midday. This holiday will be about family unity and new skills for all of us."

Valysenko sent them out of the country a few days after the war began and then managed to see them a couple of times a month. Over 300 days they've been away, they've moved at least two countries and changed schools twice.

This is the children's first return home since the war began.

Lesia Valysenko spoke to Outside Source about how the family and the children are feeling: "The children were very excited about seeing the streets they knew so well."
