“I was using that one downstairs… because it was freezingâ€
A Derby mum-of-three describes how the Make A Blanket project is helping her family.
People across Derbyshire and East Staffordshire have been making blankets to help keep somebody warm this winter.
We’ve been speaking to a Derby mum who says she’s unable to pay her bills due to rising costs, including paying the bus fare to take her children to school.
A spokesperson from Derby City Council says:
“We are aware the impact the Cost of Living crisis is having on families across the city. To make it easier to know what support is available we’re working in partnership with organisations across the city, with everything in one place, on the Community Action Derby website.
“If residents are worried about rising costs, we’d encourage them to reach out to us to ask for help and support on 01332 346266 between 9.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday or at derby.gov.uk/costofliving.
The Derby mum-of-three, who didn’t want to be named, says the support she’s received through Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio Derby’s Make A Blanket project has ‘gone down well’ in her house. She’s been speaking to our Political Reporter Georgia Roberts:
