“It’s nothing to do with racism, it’s to do with protecting us.â€
Around 400 asylum seekers are living in two hotels in Erewash, with one hotel being overtaken by the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Office recently.
A group of locals are concerned by the alleged behaviour of some people outside the hotels, this includes reports on social media of intimidation towards women.
The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Office says “The number of people arriving in the UK who seek asylum and require accommodation has reached record levels, placing unprecedented pressures on the asylum system.
Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio Derby’s political reporter Georgia Roberts has been to the local area to speak to residents.
