Vietnam's famous Train Street in Hanoi to be shut
Train Street in Hanoi, Vietnam, is one of the city's most popular tourist spots. Every day, trains speed along the tracks, just centimetres away from homes and coffee shops. Authorities now wish to close down these businesses alongside the tracks citing safety concerns.
This is not the first time authorities have tried to close businesses on Train Street, there was also an attempt in 2019. The Covid pandemic halted those plans but as the world has been opening up again so has Train Street.
Thuong Le, from Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Vietnamese, has been speaking to tourists, locals and business owners who "rely on tourists for a living" and say "shutting down everything is a bit too harsh".
