Day one in Downing Street
What happens behind that famous black door once the formalities of transition are done and the new Prime Minister gets to work?
For almost 300 years Number 10 Downing Street has seen the comings and goings of our Prime Ministers - 56 of them in total. Much of the choreography of these transitions are well rehearsed. The Prime Minister in waiting has a meeting with the Queen to be officially appointed in a ceremony called "kissing hands". The new leader then heads back to Downing Street to make a speech outlining their priorities.
But what happens once they head back into Number 10 and that famous black door closes behind them, shutting the rest of the world off?
For 5 Minutes On, our Political Correspondent Ione Wells, and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Journalist Kate Whannel, have been speaking to Number 10 insiders, who reveal what it's really like in those first few frantic hours.
