"We are safe but have no hope for the future"

It's one year since the Taliban enterered Kabul and took control of Afghanistan, dramatically changing the lives of millions of people. Thousands of Afghan citizens came to the UK, but many are still living in hotels in the East Midlands, waiting for a home.

The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Office says: "We are proud this country has provided homes for more than 7,000 Afghan evacuees, but there is a shortage of local housing accommodation for all. While hotels do not provide a long-term solution, they do offer safe, secure and clean accommodation. We will continue to bring down the number of people in bridging hotels by working with local authorities."

Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio Derby's Georgia Roberts has been speaking to one Afghan man who's been living in a Derby hotel room since January.
