Russia says it is not to blame for global food crisis
Russia's United Nations envoy has walked out of a Security Council meeting after facing accusations the country deliberately sparked a global food crisis through its war in Ukraine.
The walkout happened after the European Council President, Charles Michel, blamed Moscow for using food supplies as a weapon against the developing world, forcing millions into poverty.
Gevorg Mirzayan is a political analyst in Moscow. He tells Newsday: “We don’t stop Ukraine exporting…this is another fake story to blame Russia for another crisis…If you agree that Ukraine is part of Russia then Russia can facilitate export of Ukrainian grain. If you don’t think Ukraine part of Russia then it’s a Ukrainian issue.â€
