‘Why do they leave me alone in this place?’: Ukrainian teenager left in limbo as visa is put on hold
Newsnight understands that hundreds of unaccompanied minors - the vast majority sixteen and seventeen year olds - have had their UK visa application put on hold.
When the Â鶹ԼÅÄs for Ukraine sponsorship scheme was first announced in March there were no restrictions on under eighteens coming to the UK without a parent or guardian.
Many adults who were required to stay in Ukraine to fight, or to take care of elderly relatives, applied for their children to go on their own.
But that policy has since changed and immigration lawyers say that their young Ukrainian clients are left living in "indefinite limbo".
