'They refused to recognise us as journalists'
Khabar Lahariya is the first and only newsroom in India run entirely by women.
Its co-founder is Kavita Bundelkhandi, a former child bride who learned to write when she was 12 years old. She’s hired women mostly from marginalised backgrounds, including survivors of abuse and domestic violence.
Her team has faced discrimination and even death threats, but have gone on to produce award-winning stories about illegal mining, jungle bandits and the daily lives of rural communities.
Hear how Kavita Bundelkhandi and her childhood friend Meera Devi created a ground-breaking news organisation on Outlook.
