Kherson: Occupied by Russian soldiers, people are 'slowly dying'

Russian forces invaded Kherson on 24 February and took control of it in early March. Since then, residents have been protesting against Russian occupation. Many people have left the city but for those who remain, conditions are hard.

A woman who is still in the city with her parents says the city is full of Russian soldiers. She says their attitude has changed since the occupation, and they are now much more aggressive, and people are afraid of them. There are checkpoints throughout the city, public transport has been stopped, and nobody can leave. Supplies are low, and there are no medication for cancer patients or other people needing treatment. She adds that many people are trying to leave, and she will leave too, when she can.

"It feels like it isn't our city anymore. There are Russian soldiers everywhere. They can see that people are slowly dying."
