Anya Taylor-Joy: ‘I was slightly afraid of girls my own age’
Anya Taylor-Joy’s decision to leave school at 16 to pursue an acting career has certainly paid off. In 2020, in the first month of its release, a staggering 62m households tuned in to watch her play chess prodigy Beth Harmon in the Netflix mini-series The Queen’s Gambit.
Anya has starred in many films, and she spoke to Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 4 Woman’s Hour’s Emma Barnett while promoting her latest, The Northman, which is a viking epic.
Anya also told Emma about her difficult time at school and how it’s influenced her female friendships now.
