Zoi Sadowski-Synnott on winning NZ’s first winter gold

Gold medal winning snowboarder Zoi Sadowski-Synnott and Team GB’s Kirsty Muir discuss the camaraderie within snow sports and what it's going to be like returning to normality.

Aimee Fuller brings you the Winter Olympic Mile podcast on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds. With the Beijing winter games now nearing its conclusion, it felt only right that she catches up with some of the athletes who have headed out to represent their nations. As a former professional snowboarder and 2-time winter Olympian, she knows just how it feels, so is buzzing to introduce you to some of Team GB’s finest, as well as some of the biggest international names from around the world.

This time Aimee chats to gold and silver medal winning snowboarder, Zoi Sadowski-Synnott and Team GB’s youngest athlete, skier Kirsty Muir.

Zoi made history by becoming the slopestyle champion and became New Zealand’s first ever Winter Olympic gold medallist. She then went on to back this up in the big air competition by taking a silver. She links up exclusively with Aimee to discuss how life has been around the athlete village since taking the victory, mostly using her gold medal to open doors and getting asked for selfies by other nations.

Aimee also chats to 17-year-old freestyle skier Kirsty Muir, the excitable teenager has had an incredible first Olympics by reaching both finals of the big air and slopestyle. They reflect on the experience, and chat about returning to the Scottish dry slopes as soon as possible, but not before catching up on school work.

In this podcast series Aimee chats about everything from training plans, food and Olympic goals. Aimee has put together an amazing line-up, there's so many Olympic legends in this series it's unbelievable; from medal winning Team GB legends such as curling’s Eve Muirhead and skeleton’s Laura Deas, to international icons such as Marcus Kleveland and Mark McMorris. She’s also checked in with Olympic debutants such as Matt Weston who competes in skeleton and speed skater Niall Treacy, so many great characters available now on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds.

Aimee will also be dropping in with athletes as they return from Beijing. Remember you can only hear it right here on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds...So come on, stroll with us.
