'Virginia Giuffre does not owe anyone in the public anything'
Prince Andrew has reached an out of court settlement with Virginia Guiffre, who had accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was 17.
The Duke of York told the Â鶹ԼÅÄ in 2019 that he had never met Ms Guiffre and he had vowed to fight the allegations in court but he's now agreed to pay an unknown sum to her charity, which helps victims of abuse.
Prince Andrew has always denied the allegations and has not admitted any liability.
Jess Phillips MP, the Shadow Minister for Domestic Violence and Safeguarding, spoke to Emma Barnett on Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour about how she felt the Duke’s legal team used ‘every basic victim-blaming trick in the book’.
