Debretsion Gebremichael: Tigrayβs leader says he is ready to 'give peace a chance'
In a rare broadcast interview, the Chairman of the TPLF and elected President of Ethiopiaβs Tigray region, Debretsion Gebremichael, tells Newshour he is hopeful that shuttle diplomacy with the federal government will bear fruit. Dr Debretsion said he was ready to βgive peace a chanceβ, but that a non-negotiable condition was the immediate withdrawal of Eritrean and other troops from Tigray.
Kjetil Tronvoll, professor of peace and conflict studies at Oslo New University College then gave us his analysis of the interview.
