The Covid-19 waste problem - and how to solve it
The World Health Organization has issued a report expressing its concerns about the huge levels of medical waste being generated by the Covid pandemic and the environmental costs of this waste.
It says more than half of the healthcare facilities in poorer countries aren't able to deal with the waste safely.
Ruth Stringer is science and policy coordinator at the organisation Health Care Without Harm and she told Newshour's James Coomarasamy about the plastic waste we are seeing and the possible solutions.
