Niall Treacy and Kathryn Thomson give the lowdown on short track racing. Niall discusses his love of bread and Kat reveals how she juggled part time job with Olympic training.

Aimee Fuller brings you The Winter Olympic Mile podcast on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds. With the Beijing winter games edging ever closer, it felt only right that she catches up with some of the athletes who are heading out to represent their nations. As a former professional snowboarder and two-time winter Olympian, she knows just how it feels, so is buzzing to introduce you to some of Team GB’s finest, as they prepare for their shot at Olympic gold, as well as some of the biggest international names from around the world.

This time on the podcast Aimee headed to the National Ice Centre in Nottingham to meet two of Team GB’s speed skaters - Kathyrn Thomson and Niall Treacy.

Kat is going to her second games and 21-year-old Niall is preparing for his first Olympics. Niall asked Aimee to meet him inside the arena where he was going to give me a crash course in short track speed skating. After a quick lesson, Aimee takes them for walks to discuss the details of the sport, their training regimes and discovers they are both still buzzing from seeing the GB medal success from the Tokyo summer games.

In this podcast series Aimee is going to be taking these athletes for a one mile walk, getting them out and about to chat everything from training plans, food and Olympic goals. Aimee has put together an amazing lineup, there's so many Olympic legends in this series its unbelievable; from medal winning TeamGB legends such as curling’s Eve Muirhead and skeleton’s Laura Deas, to international icons such as Marcus Kleveland and Mark McMorris. She’ll also be checking in with olympic debutants such as Matt Weston who competes in skeleton, so many great characters coming your way.
