How Covid has affected Uganda's mountain gorillas

The pandemic has shown how interconnected the biological world is with diseases able to migrate from some species to species, and also the link between wildlife conservation and public health. Dr Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka heads Conservation through Public Health, an organisation in Uganda and the US campaigning on this issue. They argue that lost conservation income, increased poaching and the spread of disease are all intertwined.

Dr Kalema-Zikusoka told Newsday more about her research, focusing on Mountain Gorillas, and her aim to share her findings with the 13 different countries in Africa that have great ape nature parks.
